A new type of book club. An open source book club.
The typical book club consists of a group of people who read a book every few weeks, and meet to talk through it and the ideas it generates. In this book club, each member reads a different book, and during the meeting, these books are all discussed and then there is a group discussion connecting the ideas and concepts in the different books. This entire process is videotaped and put online under that group's channel, and anyone in the world can join in that book club meeting and learn about those books. Users in the community can not only present book reviews and discussions, but can 1) search for specific books, and 2) find groups they generally relate to, to hear new information about books they might be into.
This allows anyone, at any time, any where, to participate in a book club meeting, to share those ideas in a focused setting.
Of course, being boranj, this will probably start out only as a vimeo/youtube/blip channel of discussions. But if people wanted to be a part of our conversations, why wouldn't other people having totally different conversations want to be able to find like-minded individuals?
This could easily be applied to general conversations with different topics as well. But a book club type format/setting/context seems a nice place to start.
